Maldives via Qsuites

Our delayed honeymoon and babymoon combined — Qatar Qsuite to the Maldives, five nights on free-night certificates, Doha stopover on the way home.

The Trip

Maldives + Doha

This was our delayed honeymoon and babymoon combined — and a worked example of what Qsuite + Marriott free-night certificates can do together. Qatar Qsuite is, by most accounts, the best business class product flying today: fully-enclosed suites, doors, even a 'double bed' configuration for couples. The hard part isn't deciding to book it; it's finding the availability and the right transfer route.

We repositioned Seattle → Dallas-Fort Worth (spent a few hours getting BBQ at Terry Black's — non-negotiable), then DFW → Doha → Malé in Qatar Business Q-Suite for 140k Avios total (70k each) and ~$400 in taxes (~$200 each). Stayed five nights at Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa using five 40k Marriott free-night certificates plus a small point top-off.

Return: MLE → DOH → ORD for another 140k Avios + ~$400 total, this time booked with a one-night Doha stopover. Visited the city, stayed at the Hyatt Regency Doha for $107 cash (no point hotels worth it in the city for one night). Then a cash positioning flight ORD → SEA to close the loop.
