Tokyo → Sydney → Fiji

Multi-continent itinerary already locked in — JAL Business, Singapore First A380, Fiji Business home.

The Trip

Asia + Oceania · Booked, traveling 2026

This is the trip we're currently sitting on, all booked, not yet taken. It's a worked example of multi-program optimization — every long-haul leg uses a different partner, each transfer routed for maximum value.

The headline: Singapore Airlines First Class on the A380 SIN → SYD for 149k KrisFlyer miles + $80pp. That's a redemption that single-handedly justifies a year of accumulating Capital One miles and transferring to Singapore. The cash equivalent for that flight is $5,000+ per seat.

Around it: JAL Business to Tokyo (booked on JAL miles for one passenger, Cathay Asia Miles for the other — same flight, two different programs because of award space), Park Hyatt Tokyo for the final two nights on points, ANA economy onwards, Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts credit at the Langham Hong Kong, JW Marriott Singapore on a free-night cert. The return is Fiji Airways Business booked on Qatar Avios.
